Breakup Counseling

Are We Headed Toward Breakup?

  • Are you or your partner conflicted about staying in your relationship?

  • Are you seeking a viable way to end a relationship that no longer works for you?

  • Are you suffering from a broken heart from a relationship that has ended or is ending?

Breakup Counseling: Providing Assessment and Guidance

If you are contemplating separation or divorce, I offer a relationship assessment that identifies key aspects of your relationship that support staying or leaving.  Unlike classic couples therapy where the goal is to improve or save the relationship, the goal here is to determine the viability of the relationship for both partners, which can guide their decision to stay or leave. I help you to differentiate workable difficulties in the relationship from unworkable incompatibilities. Benefits of the relationshipwhich you may be overlooking because you are both overwhelmed by conflict are identified. Should there be children involved, their welfare and the emotional cost of their parents separating will factor heavily into the decision-making.  If plusses outweigh the minuses of the relationship, couples counseling may become the next step to learn how to better deal with the relational challenges.

If minuses outweigh the plusses, or one partner has already decided to leave, gaining emotional clarity and guidance from breakup counseling is invaluable in limiting the amount of hurt and emotional damage.

Healing From Separation and Heartbreak

If you are reeling from a separation that has happened, or that you fear will happen, breakup counseling can help heal the wounds of heartbreak, facilitate your emotional recovery towards feeling whole again, and enable you to move forward with your life.
